The journey of our project APA Nest, from its inception to its current state, has been marked by a commitment to promoting healthy farming practices and providing organic products to meet the world’s needs.
It all began with a random idea and discussions, driven by the recognition of the social responsibility farmers hold in sustaining healthy agricultural practices.
Challenges
Supply Chain
One of the earliest challenges encountered was in establishing a reliable delivery and supply chain system. Initially, the team faced difficulties in ensuring timely delivery to customers, with high courier charges posing a significant obstacle.
To address this, we made the strategic decision to appoint dedicated delivery personnel, despite the increased cost, to ensure trusted and timely delivery.
Price our products
Another challenge arose in determining the right price for their products. Despite investing in organic farming practices that doubled production costs, APA Nest found themselves competing with mainstream competitors who used cheaper, chemical-laden methods. As a result, their profit margins remained constrained by prevailing market rates.
To overcome these challenges and promote awareness about organic products, APA Nest developed a website aimed at educating customers and raising general awareness about the benefits of organic farming. Additionally, they appointed delivery partners in key locations to enhance convenience and accessibility for customers.
Happy being small
Despite our success, APA Nest remains committed to keeping things small and sustainable. They have set a limit of 500 customers and intend to maintain a simple, quality-focused approach to farming and business operations. However, they are eager to disseminate their model and experiences to help other farmers adopt sustainable practices and improve the supply chain.
Looking ahead, APA Nest recognizes the importance of government support in addressing supply chain challenges. We advocate for the creation of structures that facilitate door-to-door delivery of products, which would benefit both customers and farmers alike.
